HealthConnect SA
HealthConnect was an Australian Government's e-Health initiative, which faciliated the transition from the paper-based recording, storing and sharing of clinical information to electronic means.
HealthConnect SA was instrumental in facilitating the development of secure primary healthcare communications infrastructure and has developed applications for improved prevention and management of patients with chronic disease across South Australia. This culminated in the implementation of secure broadband to over 1,000 healthcare providers, secure messaging to over 1,300 healthcare providers.
The major acheivement of the former HealthConnect SA program was to develop and implement the PrimaryCare SidebarTM, a communication and information platform to facilitate improved communication between health care providers and assist in the prevention and management of chronic disease.
Although the HealthConnect SA program closed at the end of June 2009, the PrimaryCare Sidebar Project team, supported by SA Health now continues to work with key primary health care providers and stakeholders to ensure that our current projects are delivered and supported and opportunities for future e-Health initiatives can be explored.
