HealthConnect South Australia
HealthConnect was an Australian Government's e-Health initiative, which faciliated the transition from the paper-based recording, storing and sharing of clinical information to electronic means.
HealthConnect SA has been instrumental in facilitating the development of secure primary healthcare communications infrastructure and has developed applications for improved prevention and management of patients with chronic disease. This has culminated in the implementation of secure broadband to over 1,000 healthcare providers, secure messaging to over 1,300 healthcare providers and the delivery of Stage 1 of the e-Health Care Planning System.
As part of Stage 1 of the e-Health Care Planning System, HealthConnect SA developed a suite of electronic clinical support tools via a desktop PrimaryCare SidebarTM, a communication and information platform to facilitate improved communication between health care providers and assist in the prevention and management of chronic disease.
Although the HealthConnect SA program closed at the end of June 2009, a reduced project team will continue to work with key primary health care providers and stakeholders to ensure that our current projects are delivered and supported and opportunities for future e-Health initiatives can be explored.
