Secure Electronic Messaging

HealthConnect SA is funding the provision of a limited number of secure electronic messaging software applications for South Australian private health care providers.

Health care providers wishing to participate in the Secure Electronic Messaging project are encouraged to nominate their existing or future communication networks. A network can be as small as two providers and grow from there.  For example, if you are a GP who refers to a particular allied health provider, nominate yourself and the allied health provider to both receive secure electronic messaging software.

HealthConnect SA is working with the following Divisions of General Practice across the state to implement this initiative:

  • Adelaide Northern Division of General Practice
  • Adelaide North East Division of General Practice (in partnership with the Adelaide Central and Eastern Division of General Practice)
  • Adelaide Western Division of General Practice
  • SA Divisions of General Practice (SADI).

Secure electronic messaging software will enable health care providers to securely exchange patient clinical information with other health care providers. The types of information that can be transferred may include referral letters, patient clinical summaries and prescriptions.

In order to participate in secure electronic messaging, health care providers need to have a secure broadband connection in place. If you are unsure if your broadband connection is secure, or if you have not already applied for a HealthConnect SA Secure Broadband Grant, then download the relevant Registration of Interest form from the Secure Broadband Grants page.

For more information about the Secure Electronic Messaging project, or to register your interest to participate, contact Scott Nell on 08 8226 5541 or scott.nell@health.sa.gov.au.
